I heard using coverup over acne makes it worse! Is this true?

I also heard coverup with water in isnt so bad....any help on if this is true and what is a good coverup that wont cause more acne!I heard using coverup over acne makes it worse! Is this true?
No, for the most part this isn't true. Some foundations CAN make acne worse however. It depends on what you buy. And yes, water-based foundation isn't as bad because it doesn't clog pores like oil-based does.

Here's a good foundation that was made specially for people with acne. It has salycilic acid and other ingrediants to help heal pimples.

I got this info off the web, hope it helps.

Myth : Make-up causes acne.

Most make-up products are made so well that they are

non-comedogenic. They don’t clog the pores, we tell

our patients. However, if a person engages in strenu-

ous aerobic exercise while wearing excessive make-up

(or heavy, greasy make-up), the product may con-

tribute to acne by clogging the pores. We encourage

the use of water-based foundations.

While make-up can, in rare circumstances, con-

tribute to acne, we make sure to comfort our patients

who are concerned about this issue by telling them

that they can still wear make-up. In fact, some make-up

products will help camouflage their acne during treat-

ment, but prior to clearance. As a guideline, if we can

avoid it, we don’t take away a woman’s make-up.

“Make-up and heavy exercise aren’t mutually exclu-

sive,” we explain, “but it’s best not to combine the two

if you’re concerned about acne.”

Foundation is Bad for Skin

If you forget to remove the makeup before going to bed, it is surely not good for your skin. As for the rest of the cases, the modern foundations not only moisturise skin, but also protect it from harmful environment influences. Most of foundation creams contain solar-control factors – it is important to keep in mind, that one should always protect themselves from the sun, in summer as well as in winter. Sun is the main contributor to the skin aging. In winter, when cold wind and frost attack our skin, foundation helps it fight back to those attacks.

2. Cosmetics will make acne worse.

While it is true that many creams, oils and greases can aggravate your acne, there are many cosmetic products you can use that do not, including sunscreens, moisturizers and foundations. Those that do not aggravate acne or lead to development of comedones are labelled “non-acnegenic” and “non-comedogenic” respectively. (See more information about cosmetics and acne)
It depends on if the prodcut you use irritates your skin or if it contains ingredients that are more prone to clogging your skin.

It's all about trial and error. Not all makeup will clog your pores, some will, even those that are said to be for acne-prone skin.

But I think it it better to cover up as little as possible. Get a concealer for trouble spots, and maybe a tinted moisturizer to even the skin tone out, and then a light powder if needed.

Just ease up on what you apply to your face. Everything can make your acne worse.
i have good experiences with this.

first of all start using mineral foundations.

covergirl liquid is terrible for your skin.

use physcians formula mineral wear.

it is talc free and is specially designed for acne prone skin.

when the day is over, you just go to the sink and wash your face with your dail face wash. i have good facial wash so i dont have to use it everyday, but just make sure you wash it off at least with soap and water, but perferrably special skin care stuff.
Definitely don't use liquid, because it clogs up your pores which then leads to acne. So use some type of powder and remember to wash it off really well as soon as youre done wearing it.

Hope I helped[;

If you could help me too,that'd be great[;

okay.

this is like half-way true.

oil based cover up is thick and doesn't let your acne ';breath'; so i guess you could say it causes more acne.

If you buy water based it defiantly doesn't.

try cover girl.

it works the best for me
it depends on the cover up. if its really thick and cakey then yeah, it will make your acne look worse. i use revlon color stay and it doesn't make me break out like i did with other makeup and its not thick and cakey.
Use Almay clear complexion makeup. It heals blemishes with salicylic acid and its infused with meadow-sweet to help purify and clear skin. It costs under 10 dollars. You can get it at any drugstore.
Yes because it clogs the pores. Especially liquid makeup. Try bare minerals it works well on my skin and i get no breakouts. Or any mineral makeup is good too.
it is true depending what coverup you use. There are some foundations meant for people with acne, or a simple mineral based make-up would be okay to use.
Some cover up makeup will clog pores causing a worse situation.
I would definitely use a mineral makeup. It helps clear acne instead of hidding and making it worst. Also dermablend. Clears it up!

hope i helped!
go to murad.com and they have makeup for acne pron skin this is the best stuff or use nutrogena skin clearing foundation they have chemicals like silic acid thats in face wash
